Description	:	Joseph was the son of James A. McDaniel, Sr. and Martha Ann (Edwards) McDaniel. Joseph was born in Marion County, South Carolina which is now Dillon County, South Carolina. Joseph was named after his great-grandfather, Joseph McDaniel, Sr. In 1860, Joseph and Aaby Lock were united in marriage. No other dates or place of marriage is available. Read More	Joseph was the son of James A. McDaniel, Sr. and Martha Ann (Edwards) McDaniel. Joseph was born in Marion County, South Carolina which is now Dillon County, South Carolina. Joseph was named after his great-grandfather, Joseph McDaniel, Sr. In 1860, Joseph and Aaby Lock were united in marriage. No other dates or place of marriage is available. They had two daughters. 1--Sarah Jane 1861-1913 2--Joseph "Josie" Ann 1862-1914 Joseph McDaniel was the fourth of his brothers to enlist on the 2nd of May 1862 at Lightwood Knot Springs, near Columbia, South Carolina. He was assigned to Company "T" Regiment of Haggods, South Carolina Volunteers. This regiment went straight into action around Charleston, South Carolina in May 1862, and was on James Island. Joseph died August 20, 1862 in the Hospital at Summerville, South Carolina. His body was returned home for burial in the Locke- McDuffie-McDaniel Cemetery. J.H. Stafford was appointed Power of Attorney to collect his pay from enlistment until his death. The total pay for 3 months and 20 days (at the rate of $11.00 per month).Total amount paid was $62.83 with 2.50 deducted for shoes. Payment was made on about November 27, 1863. Joseph had a daughter Sarah by the time he enlisted in the Confederate Army. He had another child on the way. This daughter was Joseph Ann who would never see her father. Joseph had four other brothers in the Confederate Army, William C. Preston, Alexander, James A., Jr. and Benjamin Franklin McDaniel. Of these five brothers two survived the war, James A. Jr. and Benjamin Franklin McDaniel. Submitted by Linda Christenburg Moody Brown, great grand-niece of Joseph McDaniel. We do not have a picture of Joseph.
