Evidently after Joseph died on April 30, 1892, she then remarried to Thomas Henry Holmes on June 7, 1893 and they had four children. She died in 1906 and is buried in Oskaloosa, Mahaska County, Iowa, with her second husband and family. The inscription has "W" for the middle initial. The "Marion" name may have come from an interpretation of a city burial permit, which may have erred in listing that name. Will use "W" for the middle initial for this memorial in deference to the headstone inscription, but with that caution for family researchers. --------------------- Obituary: Fairfield Ledger Wed. May 4, 1892 Pg. 3 Col. 3 Death of Joe Oliver Joseph W. Oliver, a young man well known throughout northern Jefferson county, died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Oliver, in Polk township twelve miles northwest of this city Saturday. Deceased was born in Jefferson county September 6th, 1865. Most of his life, with the exception of a few years at school, was spent in this county. He was for a time a student in Oskaloosa College and graduated at the business college in the same city last year. He was married in Oskaloosa, March 6th, 1890, to Miss Rosa (sic. Rose) Blattner, who survives him. He was ill about five months with an affection of the lungs. Mr. Oliver was a man of exemplary habits, and there are many friends throughout the community who will mourn his taking away and sympathize with the young wife and sorrowing relatives. Funeral services were held at the family home Monday, conducted by Rev. Wilson of Richland, and the remains were brought to this city for interment.
