Description	:	Julia A. Perkins, daughter of David and Bertha Perkins, was born at Ottumwa, IA, Dec. 19, 1850 and departed from this life Dec. 30, 1947 at the age of 97 years and 11 days. When she was eight years old, she, with her parents, moved onto a farm north of Albany where she lived until she was united in marriage April 28, 1867 to James Bestwick. Read More	Julia A. Perkins, daughter of David and Bertha Perkins, was born at Ottumwa, IA, Dec. 19, 1850 and departed from this life Dec. 30, 1947 at the age of 97 years and 11 days. When she was eight years old, she, with her parents, moved onto a farm north of Albany where she lived until she was united in marriage April 28, 1867 to James Bestwick. To this union ten children were born five girls, and five boys. Three of her sons preceded her in death. She was an industrious woman, who was constantly on the alert to help those who were in need, many times leaving her own work that she might lend a helping hand to some unfortunate person. At an early age she became a Christian and united with the United Brethren church in Sabetha, as one of the charter members. Throughout all these years she remained a faithful member of the church she loved, sacrificed for, and attended. As long as her health would permit she could be found in her place at all the regular services of the church, doing her bit to make them a success and to help promote her Master's work. In the year 1945, because of failing health, she was compelled to leave her own home in Sabetha and afterward made her home with her granddaughter, Mrs. Earl Ely in Axtell, until the Savior called her in her reward. She was a loving mother, who was vitally interested in the physical and spiritual interests of her entire family. She lived a long useful life and will be greatly missed by her many loved ones and all who knew her. She is survived by her five daughters, Mrs. Allie Landreth of Axtell, Mrs. Mattie Burgett, Mrs. Carrie Walton, Mrs. Sadie Deaver, of Sabetha and Mrs. Blanche McKim of Portland, Ore.; two sons, John Bestwick of McFarland, Kan., and Thomas Bestwick of Willis; one brother, John Perkins of Sabetha; 28 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great, great grand child. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Earl L. Stites, Jan. 2, 1948, at the Reinhart Funeral Home in Sabetha, using as a Scriptural text, "In My Father's house are many mansions," John 14:2. The pallbearers were Melvin and Ray Deaver, Lawrence and Dale Walton and Ray and Earl Landreth, all grandsons. Mrs. Dale Walton sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Eastern Gate," accompanied by Billie Deaver at the piano. Burial was in the Sabetha Cemetery. Assumed from the Sabetha Herald
