Mr. Banks apparently suffered a heart attack after feeding sheep at his home on Rural Route 1. The Emergency Unit was called at 10:30 a.m. to the country home, which is located 10 miles north and 3 1/4 miles west of Alliance. Because of the storm, the roads were difficult and it was almost noon before the unit arrived at the hospital. Mr. Banks was dead on arrival. Mr. Banks was born December 26, 1907 in Alliance and except for a few years in South Dakota and in the Grant and Omaha areas, he had lived in the area all of his life. He was a farmer. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, president of The Box Butte Historical Society and a member of the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation (ASC) Committee. He married the former Hazel Amsberry on December 26, 1928 in Rushville and she survives. In addition to his widow of the home, he is survived by a son, Donald, also of Alliance; a brother, Parley of Fort Lee, New Jersey; and a sister, Mrs. Leora Cunningham of Denver, Colorado. Funeral services are pending with the Bates-Landa Funeral Home in charge of arrangements."
