John Baker at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home in Guttenberg at 1 p.m. Saturday with interment in Guttenberg City Cemetery. Barnhart, son of Clyde and Elizabeth Groth Barnhart was born on Feb. 28, 1909 at Guttenberg. He died Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Guttenberg Care Center. Services were conducted by the Rev. John Baker at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home in Guttenberg at 1 p.m. Saturday with interment in Guttenberg City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Beufort Barnhart, Don Groth, Clarence Groth, Ernest Groth, Jim Scherbring and Linford Kinyon. Most of his life as a youth was spent on a farm north of Colesburg. He attended Clayton County rural schools and Colesburg Consolidated School. In 1935 he was united in marriage to Viola Fowler of Dubuque. To this union was born one daughter, Darlene Ann. Most of their married life was spent in Oklahoma and Louisiana where Ken worked as a mechanic in the oil fields. Later they moved to California where his wife, Viola, died in June, 1969. For a few years Ken remained in California, but then returned to Iowa and for several years made his home with his sister, Arleen Troester at Colesburg. Ken had a great sense of humor and was enjoyed by all his friends. Unfortunately Ken had to spend the last five months of his life in a care center. Everyone there remarked of his patience and never complaining attitude. Ken leaves to mourn his passing his daughter, Darlene Ann of Walnut Creek, Calif.; a brother, Wilson of Guttenberg and a sister, Arleen Troester of Colesburg, along with other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Chester. Contributed by the family.
