Description	:	Laura Belle Reed, daughter of Henderson and Catherine Daugherty Reed, was born July 28, 1868 in Union W Va and came to Kansas in 1885. She graduated from Melvern High School, attended normal school in Emporia, and taught in the grade schools in Osage County. She was a member of the Methodist Church at Burns. She graduated from Melvern High School, attended normal school in Emporia, and taught in the grade schools in Osage County. She was a member of the Methodist Church at Burns. She was united in marriage to Isaac H Hines, Dec 24, 1892, at Topeka, Ks, settled on a farm in the Overbrook community for several years before moving to Blackwell, Okla. In 1908 they moved to Burns Kans, where she resided at the time of her death, July 24, 1958, at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 26 days. A son and two daughters were born to this union-Forest, Fern, and Goldie. Fern dying in childhood. Her husband preceded her in death Aug 1932. Those who survive her are a son Forest Hines, Okla City, Okla, a daughter Mrs Goldie Walter, Russell, Kans: three grandchildren, Max Hines, Tulsa, Okla, Merrill Hines, Okla City, Okla.,and Robert Walter, Barnsdale, Okla; seven great-grandchildren; a brother C N Reed, Overbrook, Sisters, Mrs Walter Miller, Topeka, Ks, Mrs Roy N Baker and Mrs George Branson, Overbrook; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Burns Kansas. on July 27, 1958, conducted by the pastor J O Hines with the burial in the Overbrook cemetery. Overbrook citizen-July 31, 1958 Funeral services for Mrs Laura B Hines, pioneer resident of Burns, who passed away last Thursday July 24, were held in the Burns Methodist church Sunday morning at 9 o'clock with the pastor, Rev J O Hines officiating. Burial was in the Overbrook cemetery at Overbrook. Mrs W W Lohrentz sang "In the Garden" and "The Lords Prayer" accompanied by the organist, Miss Sue Jarvis. Casket bearers were Ed Grimwood, Irvin Larsen, Elmer Nelson, James Holeck, C L Bruner, and Robert Freeland. Laura Bell Reed, daughter of Mr and Mrs H A Reed, was born in West Virginia near White Sulphur Springs July 28, 1868, and died in Russell Kansas July 24, 1958 at the age of 89 years, 11 months, and 26 days. She had been in failing health the past few years and entered Bethel Hospital in Newton where she was a patient for two months and was then transferred to Russell Hospital so she could be near her daughter who resides there. At an early age she came to Kansas and after completeing her education she taught school several years near Overbrook. Mrs Hines was a member of the local Methodist church and also of the Plus and Minus Club. She was keenly interested in current events and deeply loved her many friends and neighbors.
