Description	:	Henderson A Reed, son of Benjamin And Susannah (Moore) Reed, was born near Union, W Va., April 27, 1836 and died at his home near Overbrook, Sept 27, 1917, aged 81 years and 5 months. He was the last of a family of ten children. He grew to manhood in the same house in which he was born, in which his father and grandfather before him had lived and in which a number of his own children were born. Read More	Henderson A Reed, son of Benjamin And Susannah (Moore) Reed, was born near Union, W Va., April 27, 1836 and died at his home near Overbrook, Sept 27, 1917, aged 81 years and 5 months. He was the last of a family of ten children. He grew to manhood in the same house in which he was born, in which his father and grandfather before him had lived and in which a number of his own children were born. December 24,1857 he was united in marriage to Isabelle Catherine Daugherty, daughter of Phillip and Rachel Lake Daugherty. To this union were born 8 children, 2 of whom died in childhood, (Bernie and Emma), 2 girls and 4 boys growing to manhood and womanhood. June 17, 1882 the wife and mother were called to the life beyond. In April 1885 he was united in marriage to Alice Lemons of Monroe Co W Va and Immediately moved to Carbondale, Kansas and 3 years later settled on the farm near Overbrook where he has since made his home. To this union were born 7 children, all of whom grew to manhood and woman hood. When the Civil War broke out he felt duty bound to support his state and for 3 years served with distinction as 1st lieutenant of artillery in Chapman's Battery. He was converted in early manhood and united with the Methodist church of which he remained a loyal member the rest of his life. Four of the first union, 2 sons and 2 daughters and 2 of the last union, a son and a daughter have preceded him to that heavenly home. He leaves to mourn his going his wife, a daughter Laura Hines of Burn, and sons Otis L of Hoquiam, Wash., Clyde C of Maple Hill, Ks, Earl A of Denver, Co., Charles N and Arthur L and daughters Letta G Miller, May E and Grace V of Overbrook. The funeral services were conducted from the Overbrook Methodist Church at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon by Rev Rogers and interment was made in the Overbrook cemetery. Overbrook Paper-Nov 1917
