Description	:	Lawrence E. (Pat) Kayl was born July 24, 1922 in Britton, South Dakota. He attended the Britton Gade schol and then graduated from Redfield High School. He graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science degree and from the University of South Dakota Law School. He married Doreen Thomas in rural Zell. After opening his law practice in Redfield, he served as city attorney and as Spink County States Attorney. In 1960,he was elected to the South Dakota State Senate representing Spink and Clark Counties. He was re-elected... Read More	Lawrence E. (Pat) Kayl was born July 24, 1922 in Britton, South Dakota. He attended the Britton Gade schol and then graduated from Redfield High School. He graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science degree and from the University of South Dakota Law School. He married Doreen Thomas in rural Zell. After opening his law practice in Redfield, he served as city attorney and as Spink County States Attorney. In 1960,he was elected to the South Dakota State Senate representing Spink and Clark Counties. He was re-elected to that position in 1962. After serving as a municipal judge in Glencoe, Minnesota for a brief period, he was appointed as attorney for the Civil Aeronautics Board in Washington, D.C. He had held the position for about six months. He was home to visit his family at the time of his death. As a veteran of World War II he held the position of past commander of Clay RKiser Post No. 92, American Legion and he was a member of Paul A. Schleber Post 2755 and a Veteran of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the South Dakota Bar Association. He was also a member of: Masonic Lodge, York Rite, Yelduz Shrine Temple, Elsk Lodge and First Congregational Churs of Redfield. Survivors include his wido Doreen; four dauthers, Patricia, Carol, Susan and Lawreen and one son, Billy, all at home. Two brothers: Clinton of Turton South Dakota and James of Random Lake Wisconsin; and three sisters: Mrs. Mary Didrickson, Aberdeen, Mrs. Kenneth (Lucille) Freiss of Britton and Mrs. Leah Thomas of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
