Levi was the last of a large family: namely, William, Emsley, Emily Smith, Nancy Scott, Eli, Alfred, Nathan, Sarah, Marion and Ida Brittain. While a young man, Levi united with the Christian Union Church. On February 25, 1888, he was united in marriage to Louvisa Wardlow of Brownstown, Ohio. To this union was born one son, who departed this life in infancy. This mother also passed on. On February 11, 1894, he was married to Lizzie M. Doggett of Sugartree Ridge, Ohio. Two boys were born into this home. On February 8, 1933 the death angel came and called the mother from her earthly cares. Levi had been in failing health for the past year and half, but was never bedfast. During this time he lived with his son, Harry, near Fairfax, Ohio. He was stricken while he and his daughter-in-law were visiting at the home of his niece, Minnie Alexander. He leaves to mourn his departure: two sons, Philip F. of White Plains, N. Y. and Harry R. of Fairfax, Ohio, two daughters-in-law, two grandchildren, George Elwood, Grace Elizabeth Bell, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
