He departed this life at the Geneva General hospital, January 30, 1950, at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 26 days. He was left motherless at the age of two years. He departed this life at the Geneva General hospital, January 30, 1950, at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 26 days. He was left motherless at the age of two years. A sister, his father and a grandmother formed the family circle. The family came to Nebraska in 1880 and settled on a farm in Fillmore county near District 65, where Mr. Fox attended school. Lewis was united in marriage to Etta Kirst of Geneva November 23, 1899. They established their home on a farm in Chelsea township, where they resided thirty years. This union was blessed with four sons and two daughters. One son died in infancy in 1909. The surviving children are Harry, Cecil and Ronald, all of Geneva, Florence Nun of Geneva and Hazel Berge of Randolph. In the winter of 1929 Mr. and Mrs. Fox retired from the farm to Geneva, where they have since resided. Although Mr. Fox had been in failing health since early summer, they were privileged to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary only a few weeks previous to his passing. All who knew him will remember him as a hard worker, loyal friend, good, neighbor, faithful provider and companion. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Dora, and an infant son. Those surviving are his devoted wife, five children, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one brother, Fred, and a host of friends. Like a ship that's lost its mooring, And sails bravely out to sea, So someone dear has sailed away, In calm serenity. But there's promise of a greater joy Than earth could have in store. For God has planned a greater life Beyond the unseen shore. The funeral service was held from the Kritner chapel at 2 p. m. Wednesday and was in the charge of Rev. Maude V. Mann. The ministry of music was rendered by Mr. and Mrs. Tom Clarke of Exeter. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal February 2nd, 1950 page 7.
