She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Olive. She was born in Houston, Minn., and taught school for many years. Stratford Courier June 23, 1949 Obituary Lillian A. Olander Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for Miss Lillian A. Olander in Calvary Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. E.A. Cochell. Two songs were sung by Mrs. Harold Westrum and Mrs. W.R. Holstrom, with Mrs. Ronald Bell as accompanist. Following the services the remains were escorted to Oakwood cemetery for interment. The pallbearers were: Andie Holt, Leonard Monson, T.H. Ferlen, W.R. Holstrom, E.C. Naylor, and A.E. Griffith. The Jackson funeral home was in charge of the funeral services. Miss Lillian A. Olander was born at Houston, Minn., May 6, 1887, and passed away in her home at Stratford, Tuesday, June 14, 1949, at the age of 62 years, 1 month and 8 days. She is survived by three brothers: J. Fred, John P., of Onawa, and Herman A., of Stratford. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mrs. Olive E. Reed three years ago, and one brother, Edward, forty-seven years ago. Her untimely death came as the result of a heart attack in her home some time Tuesday, June 14. Miss Olander spent most of her active life in educational work, having taught in high schools at Pierre and Bell Fourche, S.D., and in the high school at Stratford. She was a graduate of the Stratford high school and Grinnell college, which prepared her for her life's work. She spent one year with her brother, J. Fred Olander, in the school book publishing business at Pierre, S.D. She became a member of the local Methodist church in 1925.
