Read More	Stratford Courier May 20, 1926 MRS. MARY OLANDER DIED VERY SUDDENLY MONDAY AT NOON Mrs. Mary Olander died at her home here shortly after the noon hour Monday. Mrs. Olander had not been in the best of health for several years but seemed to be the same Monday as usual only that she died not wish to partake of as much food as usual. She did not seem to suffer any pain but told her daughter that she wished to lie down and in a short time a change was noted in her condition. Shortly after this change she sank rapidly but very peacefully to her death. She was past 82 years old. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 at the residence and at 2 o'clock at the M.E. church. Stratford Courier May 27, 1926 OBITUARY Mrs. Mary Olander Mary Charlotte Olund was born in the parish of Ljustory, diocese of Hernosand, Sweden, Jan. 27, 1844. She passed away at her home here, May 17, 1926, having reached the old age of 82 years, 3 months, 20 days. She came to America with her parents in 1869 and settled in Houston county, Minnesota. She became the wife there of Jonas Olander on May 1870. To them six children were born: J. Fred of Pierre, S.D.; John P. of Whiting, Iowa; Herman of Stratford; Edward, who died in 1902; Mrs. Olive Reed of Fayetteville, Ark.; and Lillian of Stratford. Mr. Olander preceded his wife to the Heavenly Home Dec. 21, 1905. Others who are left to mourn are two sisters: Mrs. Anna Bjorklund of New Albin, Iowa and Mrs. Christina Baine of Grand Junction, Iowa; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The family moved to this place from Minnesota a little more than twenty-five years ago. They first lived on the farm now known as the Walter Deck farm in the west limits of Stratford. Later retiring from farming they moved to town and built the house in the east part of town where the survivor have lived since. Deceased had not been in good health for the past three years. However she bore her many sufferings with Christian patience and never complained of her lot. She was a good mother, a faithful and loving wife, and a real helpful neighbor always. A few days before her death, her children noticed a slight change in her condition and for her remaining days on earth she failed rapidly until the end. Funeral services were held Friday, from the family residence at 1:30 o'clock in the afternoon and from the M.E. church at 2:00 o'clock. The remains were laid to rest in Oakwood cemetery. Those from out of town who were here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Olander, Whiting, Iowa; Mrs. J.W. Read and son, John, Granville, Fayetteville, Ark.; Mrs. C.V. Risine, Grand Junction, Iowa; J.F. Olander, Pierre, S.D.
