Description	:	Lois Gertrude Martin was born May 15, 1902 to Edmond and Rosa Hayes Martin in their sod house northeast of Franklin. She was the second of four children. Lois passed away November 12, 1994 at Franklin, having attained the age of 92 years, 5 months and 28 days. Lois attended school at rural District 61m graduated from Franklin High School in 1920 and from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1924. Read More	Lois Gertrude Martin was born May 15, 1902 to Edmond and Rosa Hayes Martin in their sod house northeast of Franklin. She was the second of four children. Lois passed away November 12, 1994 at Franklin, having attained the age of 92 years, 5 months and 28 days. Lois attended school at rural District 61m graduated from Franklin High School in 1920 and from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1924. She taught at Diller, Nebraska for two years before her marriage to Willie K. Versaw. Lois and Willie were married at her mother's bedside on June 24, 1926. They began married life on Willie's farm northwest of Franklin, where they lived for 45 years. They moved into Franklin on their 45th anniversary in 1971. One son and four daughters were born to them. While the children were still growing up, Lois returned to teaching at Naponee and Bloomington High Schools. Her last teaching assignment was as Bloomington Elementary Principal. Lois was a member of the Franklin First United Methodist Church for eight-one years and was a member of the United Methodist Women Esther Circle, a long-time member of the Rebecca Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 209. She was a 4-H leader and worked with the Red Cross Bloodmobile for many years and had been active in numerous other organizations. Willie passed away June 19, 1983. Also preceding her in death were her parents, a brother, Paul Martin and her sisters, Helen McKee and Irma Byerly. Survivors include her children: Helen and husband, Gene Arnold of Trumbull, NE; Keith and wife, Mickie of Republic, MO; Norma and husband, Keith Steinkruger of Franklin, NE; Dixie and husband, Bob Siemsen of Fairfield, NE; Elaine and husband, Lyle Forgey of Springview, NE; twenty three grandchildren, forty-six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were at the United Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 15, 1994 at 11:00 a.m. with interment at the Greenwood cemetery, Franklin, NE. Rev. Richard Dimond officiated with Alma Huisman as organist and music was provided by the Methodist Women's Group. Casket bearers were: Jeff Arnold, Wayne Versaw, Randal Arnold, Frank Versaw, Mark Steinkruger, Kevin Wolfe, Kent Wolfe, Craig Arnold, Brian Arnold. Honorary casket bearers were: Jo Stolle, Mary Jane Walton, Jan Dye, Marjorie Brockman, Melody Guerino, Terri Horst, Susan Pearson, Tami Marvin, Rose Johnson, Toni Fowler, Nancy Versaw, Sara Beans, Carmen Forgey, Nadine Forgey.
