Description	:	Deaths MAUSLEIN — L. G. "Shorty" Mauslein, 85, of Hiawatha, died Thursday afternoon, July 9, 1987, at the Hiawatha Community Hospital, where he had been a patient for three days. He had been in failing health for several months. He was born near Hiawatha, December 2, 1901, the son of Michael and Mabel Schrader Mauslein. "Shorty" Mauslein, 85, of Hiawatha, died Thursday afternoon, July 9, 1987, at the Hiawatha Community Hospital, where he had been a patient for three days. He had been in failing health for several months. He was born near Hiawatha, December 2, 1901, the son of Michael and Mabel Schrader Mauslein. He was a life-long resident of Brown County where he farmed north of Hiawatha. He moved to Hiawatha seven years ago but remained active with the farm and it's operation. He was married to Myrtle S. Mize, April 5, 1926, in St. Joseph, Mo. She died December 31, 1980. Survivors include a son, Donnie Mauslein, Sunrise Beach, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. James (Betty) McQueen, Hiawatha, Mrs. Darrell (Karen) Davenport of Springfield, Ill.; a brother, Forrest Mauslein, rural Hiawatha; three sisters, Mrs. Opal Truex, Robinson, Mrs. Mabel Schilling, and Mrs. Irene Grover, both of Hiawatha; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Neil D. "Peck" Mauslein, who died November 23, 1985; two brothers, Lawrence Mauslein and Dana Mauslein. Funeral services are planned for 3 p.m., Saturday, July 11, at the Casselman-Meek Funeral Home, with the Reverend Stephen Regas officiating.
