Read More	Suggested edit: Obituary published in Manchester Press on Thursday, October 8th, 1925 Louisa Sandhagen, nee Hilligar, daughter of Henry and Louisa Hillgar, was born June 4, 1863, at Danenberg, province of Hanover, Germany, and after a long and lingering illness caused by diabetes, the end occurred very suddenly at 6:30 o'clock Friday morning, Oct. 2, 1925, at her home in Dundee, Iowa. At the time of her death she had attained the age of 62 years, 3 months, and 27 days. From early childhood she was reared in the Lutheran faith and remained a royal member until God saw fit to call her Home. She was a former member of the Ladies' Aid society, also a member of the Spring Hill Cemetery society. She came to this country with her mother and one brother in May 1866, settling near Manchester, and on Sept. 16, 1887, was joined in holy wedlock to Albert C. Sandhagen, whose faithful companion she was until the marriage tie was broken by death. This union was blessed with nine children, all of whom survive. All of their married life was spent on their farm near here until January 1919, when they bought a home and moved to Dundee, where she spent the remainder of her life. She leaves to mourn her husband and nine children, as follows: Viola, Clara, Voldo, Harrie, and Bertie, at home; Mrs. Rose Grehs, Rhina and Arnold of Dundee; Mrs. Minnie Bockenstedt, of Strawberry Point; and ten grandchildren; also two brothers, Emila and Rhinehart Hilligar, both of Oelwein. Two brothers preceded her in death--August, of Brooklyn, N. Y., on Dec. 16, 1924, and Julius of Hamberg, Germany, June 26, 1925. Mrs. Sandhagen was a kind and loving wife and mother and good neighbor, always willing to help in time of need. She will be sadly missed in the home and community. May the God comfort the bereaved ones in the time of sorrow. Funeral services were held in the Lutheran church Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. Melchert officiating, using as his text I Cor. 15th chapter, 19th verse. Music was furnished by the Lutheran choir, using the songs Rock of Ages, Face to Face, and Beautiful Isle of Somewhere. The floral offerings were beautiful and profuse. The remains were laid to rest in the Spring Hill cemetery. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Sandhagen and mother, Mrs. Carrie Sandhagen, of Waterloo, Iowa; Emil Hilligar and sons, Harold and Donald; and Mr. and Mrs. Rhinehart Hilligar, all of Oelwein, Iowa; Louie Swartz of Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Geo Geohs Sr. and son Karl, of Rosewood, Wis.
