She had been a resident... Read More	ELWARD, LUELLA—Luella Bell Elward, daughter of James and Bridget Welch Bell, was born April 18, 1877, on a farm in Chelsea township near Geneva, Neb. She departed this life at the Geneva General hospital, December 28, 1956, aged 79 years, 7 months and 20 days. She was united in marriage to Patrick Elward at Deadwood, S. D., March 1, 1899. To this union were born two sons, Melvin, who passed away November 6, 1930, and Mervil. March 25, 1948, she was received into membership in the First Congregational church of Geneva. She had been a resident of Fillmore county all her life, except four years. Those four years she and her husband lived in South Dakota. At the time of her husbands’ passing in 1933, they resided on a farm near Strang. Since then she has lived in Geneva and for the past 20 months had been a patient at the Geneva hospital. She leaves to mourn her death her son, Mervil of Ohiowa, a grandson, Melvin E. Elward of Lakewood, Col., a granddaughter, Mrs. Wayne Lefever of Geneva, five great-grandchildren, Marc, Douglas, and Pamela Elward and Craig and Rene’ Lefever, a sister, Mrs. Hattie Rakestraw of Los Angeles, a brother, Shelly Bell of Bradshaw, a number of other relatives and a host of friends. The loyalty and devotion of her relatives and her wide circle of friends was manifested in many ways to bring cheer and comfort to her during her long illness the past 20 months. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Monday, December 31, at the Hrubesky-Farmer funeral home in Geneva. Rev. L. E. Werner officiated. Mrs. Gerald Pickerell, accompanied by Mrs. Willard H. Foster, sang “Ivory Palaces” and “Sometime We’ll Understand.” Pallbearers were Ellis Bumgarner of Strang, William Bumgarner of Bruning, Louis Bauman of Ohiowa, Frank Eich of Geneva, William Langhorst of Ohiowa and John Harrington of Geneva. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal January 3rd, 1957 page 9.
