In the 1910 census enumerated on 17 Apr in Sherman, Nuckolls, Nebraska she is inadvertently listed as daughter to head of house when, in fact, she was the daughter-in-law, being the wife of Emory Edwin Felton at this time. She is listed as Bertha L. Felton in the 1920 census, enumerated on 17 Jan 1920 in Sherman, Nuckolls, Nebraska. After her husband died in 1926, Luetta and their son moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado and are listed in the 1930 census enumerated on 12 Apr 1930. On 21 Apr 1931 Luetta married Guy Mellick in Greeley, Weld, Colorado. It would appear that they divorced within a few years, as Guy a Mellick listed himself as single in the 1940 census. I have been unable to locate Luetta in the 1940 census. From 1951 until her death in 1961, Luetta was living with her last husband, George Benson, in Lincoln, Nebraska. I have not been able to locate a marriage record, nor can I find reliable information as to George’s date of birth/death. Luetta’s obituary was published on Wednesday, March 1, 1961 in the Lincoln Journal Star as follows: Mrs. Luetta Benson, 70, of 1105 Sumner, died Tuesday. She was a resident of Lincoln for the past 10 years. She was also a former Lincoln State Hospital ward’s aide.
