She was born in Grayson County, October 10, 1926 to the late, Willie Earl and Byrd Osborne. She was the widow of Robert Eugene Whitaker. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Dan Brooks of Clemson, South Carolina; a granddaughter, Tara Brooks of Knoxville, TN; a grandson, Rhett Brooks of Dallas, TX; two brothers, David Osborne and Robert Osborne, both of Independence, Va.; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family request the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Mabel at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2015 in the Chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Reverend Jack Tookey officiating. A private interment will be held Monday afternoon at Cox’s Chapel cemetery in Grayson County, Va. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday.
