Fairfield Daily Ledger Monday July 25, 1938 Pg. 4 Col. 6 Malissia Marchese Dies in Iowa City Hospital Sunday Malissa Samonds Passalaqua (Marchese, wife of G. B. Passalacqua, better known as Joe Marchese, died at the University hospital in Iowa City Sunday morning at 3:34 o'clock. She was 47 years of age. She was taken to the University hospital on Tuesday of last week after a serious illness of several months. She had been in poor health for a number of years. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Cross Lanes church with Dr. Whiting officiating and burial will be made here in Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. Marchese (sic) was born in Jefferson county on January 5, 1891. She is survived by her husband, one brother Noble Samons of Batavia, three sister, Mrs. Herman Lundquist, and Georgia and Frances Samons all of Fairfield. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her father George Samons, having died July third.
