MYERS DEAD, PAL OF YEARS DYING ---------------------------------------- CAR PLUNGES INTO DITCH NEAR MISSOURI VALLEY WITH MARK PURCELL. ---------------------------------------- LIFETIME NEIGHBORS ---------------------------------------- MISSOURI VALLEY, la., March 27. -- William Myers, 55, is dead and Mark Purcell, 50, possibly fatally injured as the result of an automobile accident, two miles north of here on No. 75, at 10 o’clock this morning. The two men, with Myers driving, were on their way to town when apparently something went wrong with the steering gear and the car shot off the grade in front of the Frank McIntosh place. It dropped into a gully by the roadside, twenty feet deep, crushing and killing Myers instantly and smashing Purcell’s chest so that he cannot live. The men were neighbors, bachelors, and had lived side by side for many years. Myers lived alone and Purcell with his aged mother. Parties following who saw the accident say the car was traveling at a high rate of speed when it suddenly started to zigzag across the pavement.
