Description	:	Margaret Carrie Mills was the daughter of Edna (Hunt) and Charles Mills, and grew up in and around Mills County, with two sisters, and five brothers, later moving into Silver City when her Dad quit farming to work on the Wabash Railroad. The Mills and Hunt families were instrumental in helping to settle Lucas and Mills Counties in Iowa, and Hamilton County, NE during the 1850's - 1880's, having migrated (mostly) from Virginia, WV, and Indiana in covered wagons. Read More	Margaret Carrie Mills was the daughter of Edna (Hunt) and Charles Mills, and grew up in and around Mills County, with two sisters, and five brothers, later moving into Silver City when her Dad quit farming to work on the Wabash Railroad. Margaret was an avid dancer and danced at many of the Dance Halls around Mills County where she met her future husband, Fred Crane, who also loved to dance.They married in 1942 and she resided in Council Bluffs while he served his country at sea in WWII. They lived in Silver City for a few years when he returned before settling in Council Bluffs. There they were active members of the Masonic Temple and the Eastern Star organizations. Margaret continued to dance with a group of friends that formed a dance group called the Boot-Scootin' Grannies. They performed at the Center in Council Bluffs and throughout Iowa for many years, and taught western dance lessons. When not dancing, Margaret volunteered often at the Mills County Home for Disabled Children. She and her surviving sister also traveled to many places they had always wanted to visit, and to see their brothers who all lived in different states for many years. Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Charles Crane, her parents, both sisters, four brothers, and ex-husband, Fred Crane. She is survived by 2 daughters, 2 sons, 12 grand-children, 13 great-grandchildren, and a host of great friends. Margaret was one week shy of turning 94 years old. She will be missed. Rest in Peace, Mom.
