She was a graduate of Manhattan High School and Kansas State University where she received a BA in Music Education. Mrs. Armstrong was retired from the Kansas Department of Education after over 25 years of service. She was a graduate of Manhattan High School and Kansas State University where she received a BA in Music Education. Mrs. Armstrong was retired from the Kansas Department of Education after over 25 years of service. Margaret married Robert Lee Armstrong on February 16, 1947 in Olathe, KS. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2008. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Waechter of Whiting, KS, a son, Myron Armstrong, Topeka; two grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren; a brother, Tennyson Collins and a sister, Barbara Nyberg, both of Manhattan. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, B. Laurie Collins. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Private family interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Margaret will lie in state from 3-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children Travel Fund, c/o Arab Shriners, 1305 South Kansas Avenue, Topeka, KS 66612-1332or to K.S.U. Music Scholarship Fund.
