Description	:	Margaret Dry, daughter of Daniel and Rebecca (sic) Dry, was born at Allendale, Worth County, Missouri on July 14, 1872. Her early childhood was spent in that locality. In 1884 the family came to Nebraska by covered wagon and arrived in Chester 72 years ago this month. They lived on a farm northwest of Chester and Margaret attended school in the neighborhood. About... Read More	Margaret Dry, daughter of Daniel and Rebecca (sic) Dry, was born at Allendale, Worth County, Missouri on July 14, 1872. Her early childhood was spent in that locality. In 1884 the family came to Nebraska by covered wagon and arrived in Chester 72 years ago this month. They lived on a farm northwest of Chester and Margaret attended school in the neighborhood. On September 17, 1890 she was united in marriage with Edward Reeves, Rev. J.B. Lewis officiating, at the home of her parents. For several years they resided on farms around Chester and Byron. About 1904 they moved into Byron and made that their home for some 40 years. They were happy to be able to celebrate their Golden Wedding in 1940 at their home in Byron. Ed and Mag, as they were known to relatives and close friends, were the parents of 4 children, Mildred, Lena who died at the age of 3 months, Joe and Bessie. She was friendly to everyone and lived a life of service whereever (sic) she was. In her earlier life she was very good in cases of illness and went many times to aid in cases of sickness and distress in the community. She loved to help in the church and community work and it was a source of grief to her when she was unable to assist in such work. She was a wonderful wife and mother and the home she made for her husband and children was one of the best. She loved company in her home and many good times occured (sic) there. She was baptized in the Christian Church (the old building) in Chester by D.G. Wagner about 1902. She continued to retain her membership in the Chester Church but during the many years she resided in Byron she was a regular attendent (sic) at the Methodist Church and was very active in the church work, for many years teaching a Sunday School Class. About a year ago, due to her failing health, it was necessary for her to be taken to the home of her daughter in Washington, Kansas. During most of the time since, with the exception of the last 6 weeks, she has resided in her daughter's home. She entered the hospital in Washington February 20 and passed way there March 28, 1956 at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 7 days. She was preceded in death by her husband and infant daughter, her parents and 2 brothers Arthur and Edgar Dry. Those left to mourn her passing are her 2 daughters and 1 son: Mrs. Walter Beckley of Parma, Idaho, J.A. Reeves, superintendent of the State Soldier's home at Orting, Washington and Mrs. W.J. Krause, Washington, Kans.; two brothers and two sisters: Harley Dry, Will Dry and Mrs. Della Throne of Chester and Mrs. Bessie Coleman of Boulder, Colo.; There are also 10 grandchildren: Hazel Bent, Buhl, Idaho, Merle and Cecil Beckley, Parma, Idao; Arden Beckley, Athena, Ore.; Scott Reeves, Seattle, Wash.; Steven Reeves and Margaret Barby, Everett, Wash.; Dr. Charles Krause, Caldwell, Idaho; Verne Krause, Peabody, Kans.; Gayle Krause, Dorrance, Kans.; also 17 great grandchildren; many more distant relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 31, from the Christian Church in Chester, Nebraska, Rev. Frank Perry in charge. Mrs. Melvin Crouse and Mrs. Willard Rieke sang, accompanied by Mrs. Ray Truss. Pallbearers were Clay Davenport, Walter Mosier, Ray Truss, Ray Fry, Paul Dry and Louis Artz. Interment was made in the Chester cemetery (sic).
