Margaret W Snider was the daughter of Franklin Clark and Margaret Ann McCoy Snider. She was raised in the Montezuma area and graduated from Montezuma High School in 1940. She was married to William Henry McCulley on December 29, 1941 in Rockport, Missouri. To this union was born five children; Roger, Jo Ann, John, Gary and Leila. After her husband returned home from the WW II they lived in Lynnville for a while prior to moving to a farm in the Montezuma area. They later moved to Grinnell in 1961. Margaret was employed at the Grinnell Shoe Factory and for many years at Grinnell College in the food service department. She met many students while working there and enjoyed becoming a "2nd mother" to many. While living on their farm she kept busy gardening and raising chickens. Margaret was a devoted mother to her five children and a loving grandmother. She also kept a keen eye on all the children in the neighborhood and did her best to make sure they were happy and safe. She was very well organized throughout her life and her patience was a virtue. She was a collector of things, an avid reader, and enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
