Other siblings were Jan, Gijsbert, Martinus, Elbert, Jacob, Dirk, Neldus, another Egje (who only lived 7 months) Pieter, Jr. and Gysbertje all born in Arkel. Two brothers, Gijsbert and Martinus plus his wife Grietje and their young son, Pieter Jacob, left Holland and immigrated to the United States in 1885.
