She died August 30, 1984, in Topeka,Kansas. ******************** Topeka Capital-Journal, Saturday, September 1, 1984, page 22: Mrs. Marian "Mary" Coates Mrs. Marian "Mary" Coates, 95, 1307 W. 11th, died Thursday, Aug. 30, at a Topeka hospital. She was born March 9, 1889, at Topeka, the daughter of Jacob and Marian Miller Geisler, and spent all her life in Topeka. Mrs. Coates was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Ladies Auxiliary of International Typographical Union at Topeka. She was married to James A. Coates March 4, 1915, at Kansas City, Mo. He survives. A son, Willis J. Coates, died Jan. 24, 1968. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mary Lou Davis, Amarillo, Texas; a son, James V. Coates, Joplin, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Dees, 3020 Clark Court, and Mrs. Lydia Lyke, Eureka; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3611 Jewell. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
