"Mac" McCrary, 78, Lawrence, died Thursday, Feb. 26, at a Lawrence Hosphital. Mr. McCrary was a retired laborer. He had worked for several Lawrence firms including Lawrence Paper Co., Reuter Organ Co., Grant Township in Douglas County and the former Fritzel Creamery. He was a part-time security officer since he retired. He was born Jan. 2, 1909, at Oskaloosa, the son of George and Minnie Rode McCrary. He spent most of his life in Lawrence. Mr. McCary was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Mount Oread Aerie No. 309 at Lawrence and the Retired Eagles Activity Club. His first wife, Mrs. Ruby Fairbanks McCrary, died in 1979. He was married to Mable Funderburk in November 1984 at Lawrence. She survives him. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Betty Curtiss, McLouth, and Mrs. Vera Hadl and Barbara Alldredge, both of Lawrence; three sons, Harold McCrary and Bill McCrary, both of Lawrence, and David McCrary, Baldwin; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jane Allen, Lawrence; two stepsons, Ron Funderburk, Littleton, Colo., and Steve Funderburk, Joplin, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Mooney, Lawrence; 23 grandchildren; and 15 greatgrandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence Cremation is planned to follow services and inturnment will be at a later time in Maple Grove Cemetery at Lawrence. Mr. McCrary will lie in state from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. today at the mortuary where the family will meet with friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association Intensive Care Unit Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice.
