Funeral services were held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in Long Beach, Cal., for Martha Rebecca Eacrett, who was born at Strahan and passed away Nov. 1 at the home other daughter, Mrs. Betty Gates, in Long Beach, Cal. She is survived by her daughter, three grandchildren, Robert Gates, Long Beach; Mrs. Peggy Watts, San Mateo, Cal., and Mrs. Charlotte Jackson, Norfolk, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Agnes Steele, Strahan; and two brothers, S.M. Criswell, Glenwood and C.P. Criswell, Omaha. She spent most of her life in this community. She lived a few years in Montana after her marriage and then made Malvern her home until the death of her husband, G.S. Eacrett, in July, 1940. Then she gave up her home and went to California to the home of her daughter. She had a light-hearted disposition and made many friends. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and of the Methodist church at the time of her death. The remains will be sent to Malvern later and placed in the family lot and memorial services held at that time. A message left in her Bible reads: I do not know Where falls the seed, that I have tried to sow With greatest care. But I shall know the meaning of each waiting hour below Some time, somewhere.
