LANGEL Deceased Had Lived Here For Past Thirty Years Mrs. Langel, wife of Theodore Langel, residing in America township, two miles southeast of town, died on Tuesday afternoon, August 31, following a week's illness from bowel trouble. Mrs. Langel had suffered acutely at various times from ill health during her life, but of late years had been in excellent health until the illness which began a week ago Saturday and terminated fatally. Mrs. Langel was a little over fifty years of age. Her maiden name was Mary Ahlers and she was born at Luxemburg, Iowa, February 17, 1865. She attended school and grew to womanhood in her native place and was united in marriage on February 19, 1884, with Henry Langel. Following their marriage that spring they came to Plymouth county, which has been their home ever since. They settled on a farm in Elgin township where they lived for eight years and then moved to the farm in America township. Mr. and Mrs. Langel are the parents of thirteen children, eleven of whom with the father are left ot mourn a mother's love and care. The children are: Joseph, who farms southwest of town, Frank, on the old farm in Elgin township, Annie, Mary, Will, Leo, Rosie, Theckla, Philomena, Theodore and Margaret, living at home. Two children died in infancy, one of them Edward, being a twin of Annie. She also leaves two grandchildren and several brothers and sisters who are: John, Henry and William Ahlers, of Granville, Mrs. Garrett Lewis, of Adrian, Minn., and Mrs. Peter Schwartz, of Granville, Iowa. Mrs. Langel was a devoted wife and mother, whose chiefest care was the upbringing and happiness of her children and the home circle she created was a completely happy one. She was a good neighbor and friend, ever willing to respond to the call of those in sickness and trouble and lend sympathy and aid. She was very highly esteemed in a large circle of friends and acquaintances, her cheerfulness and sunshiny disposition being an influence for good. The funeral will be held at ten o'clock this morning at St. Joseph's Catholic church, of which she was a devout member.
