In her early childhood they moved to Kansas. She spent all her unmarried life on a farm one mile west and two miles south of St. Benedict. She was united in marriage to Louis Rettele, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rettele, on May 19, 1908. They were the parents of seven children, one who died in infancy. She was an industrious homemaker and took pride in her needle work and flowers. She is survived by her husband, Louis Rettele, of the home; children, Rachel, Mrs. Lawrence Deters, Baileyville, KS; Florina, Mrs. Frank B. Macke, Baileyville, KS; Margaret, Mrs. Alfred Hasenkamp, Corning, KS; Ed Rettele, Denver, CO; Mildred, Mrs. Francis Melcher, Seneca, KS; Eileen Rettele, Seneca, KS; siblings, John Engelken, Axtell, KS; Mrs. Margaret Hammes, Baileyville, KS; Mrs. Anna Stallbaumer, Seneca, KS; Elizabeth, Mrs. George Stallbaumer, Seneca, KS; Clara, Mrs. Luke Haug, Seneca, KS; Joseph Engelken, Seneca, KS; Andrew Engelken, Seneca, KS; Albert Engelken, Seneca, KS; and Leo Engelken, Kansas City, KS.
