Read More	Mary Louise Hays Monroe City Sept. 6, 1916 - May 23, 2005 MONROE CITY - Mary Louise Hays, 88, of Monroe City, died at 4:45 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2005, in the Monroe City Manor Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 27, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Monroe City with Father Don Antweiler and Father Bill Flanagan. Burial will be in the St. Stephens Cemetery in Indian Creek. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at Holy Rosary Church. There will be a D of I Rosary at 5 p.m. and a parish scripture service at 8 p.m. Born Sept. 6, 1916, in Monroe County near Lakenan, she was the daughter of Theodore Virgil and Martha Gertrude Lanham Hamilton. She was married to F. Lamar Hays on Oct. 23, 1937, in Shelbina. He preceded her in death July 26, 1977. Survivors include four sons, Pat Hays and wife, Margie, and Nick Hays and wife, Henrietta, all of Monroe City, Dan Hays and wife, Carole of Moberly, and Tony Hays and wife, Jeanne, of Monroe City; nine daughters, Betty Pangborn and husband, Tom, of Columbia, Theresa Traul and husband, John, of Glenwood Springs, Colo., Martha Boarman and husband, Jim, of Chesterfield, Barbara Knaebel and husband, Rich, of Moberly, Judy Rains and husband, Kenny, of Lenexa, Kan., Doris Davis and husband, Dennis, of Tuscon, Ariz., Nancy Huebner and husband, Dave, of Fairfield, Iowa, Marie Purol and husband, Joey, of Monroe City, and Linda Hays of Sacramento, Calif.; 37 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Charles Hamilton; and one sister, Elizabeth Porter; and two grandsons, Matthew Hays and Kenneth Pangborn. Mrs. Hays attended Greenwell Country School in Monroe County and graduated from the Holy Rosary School in Monroe City in 1935. She and her husband farmed many years in the Monroe City area and was later continued as Hays Bros. Farms. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, and was very active in the Monroe City Manor Auxiliary, the Monroe City Nutrition Center, a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, and a very active volunteer in her community. For over 40 years while raising her family she was a member of the Indian Creek Activities. Pallbearers will be David, Todd, Mark and Craig Hays, Thomas Pangborn, Nathan Traul, Ben Boarman, Brian Rains, Jesse Huebner and Michael Purol. Mrs. Hays' grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Holy Rosary School or Monroe City Nutrition Center.
