Description	:	Mrs. Carl Wilken died at the Denison, Iowa, hospital February 7,1953, after a lengthy illness. She had been hospitalized in Omaha, NE., and was taken to the Denison hospital on February 1. Mrs. Wilken was born Anna Marie Catherine Meyer, the daughter of August Meyer and his wife, Dorothea nee Hamann, April 20, 1898, in Soldier Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She grew to womanhood in Soldier Township and was married to Carl Wilken June 16, 1924. They farmed for 26 years near Schleswig and moved to Denison in January, 1950. She was baptized in early... Read More	Mrs. Carl Wilken died at the Denison, Iowa, hospital February 7,1953, after a lengthy illness. She had been hospitalized in Omaha, NE., and was taken to the Denison hospital on February 1. Mrs. Wilken was born Anna Marie Catherine Meyer, the daughter of August Meyer and his wife, Dorothea nee Hamann, April 20, 1898, in Soldier Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She grew to womanhood in Soldier Township and was married to Carl Wilken June 16, 1924. They farmed for 26 years near Schleswig and moved to Denison in January, 1950. She was baptized in early infancy and confirmed in the Lutheran church of Soldier Township. For many years she served as organist and Sunday school teacher in Immanuel Lutheran Church of Schleswig, Iowa. She was a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid in Denison, Iowa. Funeral services were held at the Zion Lutheran Church Monday afternoon with the Rev. Carl Schmidt in charge. The ladies choir sang "Abide With Me" and "Asleep in Jesus". Burial was made in the Morgan Cemetery, Schleswig, Iowa. Survivors are the widower; three daughters: Florence Kyle of Sioux City, Iowa, Irene Bloom of Omaha, NE, and Luetta of Denison, IA; one son, Vernie of Schleswig, IA; three sisters, Dora Neubauer, Martha Claussen both of Schleswig and Minnie Gosch of Ute, IA; and two brothers, John and Henry of Ricketts, IA. Two sisters and one brother preceded her in death. She is also survived by seven grandchildren. Pallbearers were Carl Holtmann, Harold Reissen, Wilbert Johannsen, Eddie Schneider, Les Reincke and Harry Wellendorf. Transcribed by Dawn Boettger
