Description	:	Nettie M. Hadley, daughter of Rowland W. Watt and Viola M. Barton Watt, was born June 15, 1889 in Taylor County, Iowa and died September 7, 1977 at the Villisca Good Samaritan Center after a long illness. She was the fourth of thirteen children having six brothers and six sisters. After finishing high school and academic work she taught a year in rural school in Taylor County. Read More	Nettie M. Hadley, daughter of Rowland W. Watt and Viola M. Barton Watt, was born June 15, 1889 in Taylor County, Iowa and died September 7, 1977 at the Villisca Good Samaritan Center after a long illness. She was the fourth of thirteen children having six brothers and six sisters. After finishing high school and academic work she taught a year in rural school in Taylor County. She then enrolled in nurses training at Hershey Memorial Hospital in Muscatine, Iowa and graduated as a registered nurse. On December 28, 1915, she was united in marriage to Arthur W. Hadley in a ceremony at the home of her parents in Villisca. Her husband preceded her in death on January 31, 1960, after 45 years of marriage. No children were born to this union, but her nieces and nephews were very close to Nettie’s heart. Arthur Hadley became a minister in the Friends Church and Nettie spent many years serving her Lord and her husband, at White’s Institute and Orphanage for three years, as a missionary to the Osage Indiana in Hominy, Oklahoma for 13 years and and in a number of Friends Churches in Iowa. She was superintendent of nurses in Winterset, Iowa and upon Arthur’s retirement to Villisca, she became office nurse for Dr. S. D. Moore. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters and four brothers. Surviving her are a sister, Helen Penwell of Villisca; and two brothers, Orville Watt of Lincoln, Nebraska and Raymond Watt of McLean, Virginia. Services were held Saturday, September 10, 1977 at 10:30 a.m. at the Advent Christian Church in Villisca with Rev. Melvin White and Rev. Elliott Bodwell officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Neal Gray, organist and Charles Rucker, soloist. Musical selections were “The Face of My Pilot” and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.” Floral committee consisted of Mrs. Robert Dunn, Mrs. Roger Gray, and Mrs. Jerry Hossman. Dennis Neal and Albert Baker serves as ushers. Pall bearers were Vincent Else, Harold Young, Lloyd Young, Keith Watt, Carlton Stewart, and Neal Gray. Interment was in the Villisca Iowa Cemetery.
