Description	:	Funeral services for Mrs. J. F. (Elma) Prather were held on Wednesday, April 27, at 2:00 p.m. at the Advent Christian Church with Rev. Elliott Bodwell officiating. Pall bearers were Virgil Boyer, Dennis Neal, Orville Marsh, Earl Fryer, John Frazee, and Wayne Brown. Flower bearers were Mrs. Orville Marsh and Mrs. Dennis Neal. Mrs. Neal Gray accompanied the Rev. Raymond Barber of Council Bluffs in the following vocal selections, “God Understands: and “His Eye Is On The Sparrow.” Concluding service and interment was in the Villisca Cemetery with Wolfe Funeral Home in charge. Elma Lavisa, third daughter of Rowland W. and Viola Barton Watt, was born in Taylor County, near Guss, Iowa on November 7, 1887 and died in the Clarinda Municipal Hospital on April 24, 1960 at the age of 72 years. She was of a family of thirteen children. Her childhood was spent on the farm and she moved to Corning in 1901 then to Villisca in 1906 where on November 17 she was married to James F. Prather and in 1956 they observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary. Into this home were born two daughters, now Velma L. Else of Clarinda and Evelyn G. Anson of Villisca. This home was broken by the death of her husband last May 30, 1959. When a girl she united with the Advent Christian Church and in this church in Villisca she served faithfully as Sunday School secretary and teacher. Cradle Roll Sup’t and President of the W.H. and F.M. Besides her two daughters she leaves one granddaughter Beverly A. Anson, Villisca and four grandsons, Vincent L., and Vernon D. Else of Clarinda, Duane P. Anson, Villisca, and Norman D. Anson of U.S. Navy, stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death and she leaves four sisters, Mars. Walter Young, Prescott; Mrs. A. W. Hadley, Mrs. C. A. Penwell, and Mrs. H. L. Peters, Villisca, and four brothers, Leonard B. Watt, Grinnell, Iowa; Raymond D., Washington D.C.; Orville P., Moline, Illinois, and Everett M. Kansas City, Kansas. Villisca Review, Thursday, April 28, 1960, page 10
