Read More	DEATH CLAIMS YOUNG MOTHER Mrs. Clyde McLain Passes Away at Her Home in Rawles Township July 12; Funeral at Malvern Friday One of the saddest things we have chronicled in many a day is the passing of Mrs. Clyde McLain, whose death we noted last week. She passed away July 12, 1916, after a brief illness at their home south west of Hillsdale. A little daughter was born to them that morning, but was not permitted to live and in the afternoon the mother also was taken. Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church in Malvern, Friday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. M. A. Gable, pastor of the Malvern Methodist Church. It was attended by old friends of the deceased from all over the county. Many auto loads came from the old home south of Emerson, a large number from Hastings, and many more from the late home near Hillsdale, testifying by their present and manifest sorrow to the affection in which she was held by all who knew her. A special choir from Hillsdale and Malvern, Mr. and Mrs. Joy Parker, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reasoner, Mrs. F. E. Howard, Roy Parker, R. W. Criswell, and Mrs. L. A. Talbott sang. Beautiful flowers in greatest profusion spoke mutely of the beautiful life of the deceased. The remains were laid to rest in the Malvern Cemetery. The pall bearers were neighbors, Messrs, Leonard Seeger, C. R. Warren, Bert Butterfield, Walter Briley, Ira Nuss, Lee Roland, F. M. Mintle, and Clyde Tucker. The following obituary was read at the services: Olive Lois Shaw, wife of Clyde H. McLain died at her home southeast of Glenwood at 2:35 p.m., July twelfth. Death came without warning and was the sadder in that she gave her life for the little one buried in her arms. She was born south of Hastings on December twentieth, 1884 and was the third daughter of Mr. and Mr. George E. Shaw. As she grew to school age, she attended South Grove and later Hastings High School where she graduated in 1902. During this time she became a follower of the Cross and entered into the fellowship of the Methodist faith under Rev. R. W. Shaw's pastorate and became an active worker in the church. The promise of her youth developed as she grew to womanhood and her attractiveness and pleasing personality endeared her to old and young alike, and she was a general favorite. She was married to Clyde H. McLain on December twentieth, 1904. Their happy married life was, with the except of one year in Nebraska and the last two years in her late home, spent in or near Hastings, Iowa, where a host of friends will miss her happy face. They will remember her as keen and strong for the right, a sympathetic friend in sorrow, and willing to help in any emergency. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and five beautiful daughters, Irene, Evangeline, Helen, Virginia, and Ruth, also an aged grandmother, Mrs. Mary Magee, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. George E. Shaw, her sisters and brothers, Mrs. Dallas Culver, Benjamen W. and Alfred P. Shaw of Hastings, Frank E., Charles Shaw, and Mrs. Stuart Honeyman of Emerson, Fred D. Shaw of Osmond, Nebraska, and Mrs. Wesley Nims of Lisbon, North Dakota. An interesting fact is that death has never before entered this large family, so it is doubly hard to bear. Her married life has been most happy. Her heart was in her home where she was queen and held undisputed away over her household. Surely "her husband shall praise her and her children live to call her blessed." While we mourn with her family and friends, Her memory will be ever dear and we will remember, "She walks with God who loves and needs her most" and so say "Good night dear one, sweet dreams." She is not dead but liveth in that other room and will await her dear ones coming till God shall for us, push aside that door and let us enter in. So let us too, keep the faith and live steadfastly and nobly as she did weal and woe. "Whatever way the wind doth blot Some heart is glad to have it so.
