Read More	PIONEER RESIDENT LAID TO REST HERE WEDNESDAY Death came to Oliver Hammers age, 83, Saturday of last week. Mr. Hammers had the unique distinction of having been born in Mills County 83 years ago and residing during his lifetime in this county. His life span from the day of the early pioneer, when there was some Indian population remaining in the area, to the present day of speed and modern conveniences. He engaged in farming and livestock raising extensively during this lifetime. Oliver Hammers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Hammers was born in Glenwood, Iowa, February 22, 1865, whee he grew to young manhood. He departed from this life Saturday, June 5, 1948 after an extended illness of several months. To this and his wife, Carrie Buffington Hammers, who preceded him in death in 1923, were born three children, Amy, Glenwood, Mrs. Marion Kemp, Malvern, and James of Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Hammers life's work was that of a farmer and stock raiser which he did extensively for a numb rod years, living on a farm near Malvern. Having retired the last 15 years, he made his home with his daughter, Amy. Mr. Hammers united with the Methodist Church as a young man and kept a sincere faith until the end. Being of a genial nature and having a friendly word for everyone won the respect and confidence of those about him. His life span bridged from the pioneer to Atomic age. Beside his immediate family he leaves two brothers and one sister, John of Glenwood, Arch of Council Bluffs, and Mrs. Francis Keenan of Odessa, Missouri, four grandchildren and one great grand child. Funeral services were held from the Raynor Funeral Home Tuesday, June 5, with his pastor, Rev. J. Walker officiating. Music was furnished by William C. Lugsch with Mrs Evelyn Logan at the piano. Flower ladies were Mrs. Sam Boyer, Mrs. Glen Fitch, Mrs. Clair Clark, Mrs. William Siezak, Mrs. L. A. Hollinshend, and Mrs. W. W. Gilliagan. Casket bearers were Dr. L. A. Hollingshead, Fred Thioschafer, Clair Clark, William Slezak, Glen Fitch, and W. W. Gilliland. Burial was made in the Malvern Cemetery.
