Read More	Bringing a sense of real regret to the community was the death of Martin Ericson, a well-known resident of this city, at the Akron Hospital early Sunday morning, November 9, of a heart attack following a brief illness, at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 5 days. Olaf Martin Ericson was born March 4, 1875, in Union county, South Dakota, a son of pioneer homesteaders there, Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Ericson. He grew to manhood there and farmed in the Union Creek community until retiring in 1915 and moving to Akron. Never having married, he made a home with his parents. After the death of his father his mother resided with him in Akron during her life-time. Mr. Ericson was a member of Union Creek Lutheran church. He served on the board of directors of the Farmers' Co-Operative here and at one time served a term as town councilman of Akron. His pleasant personality, friendliness and keen interest in the everyday affairs of life and of his community gained for him a host of warm friends. Survivors are one brother, William Ericson, of Akron, and two sisters, Mrs. Adina Hultgren, of Akron, and Mrs. Louise Harker, of Hawarden. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Union Creek Lutheran church, Rev. David J. Roy officiating. Mrs. Arthur Claeys, of Sioux City, was soloist, and Mrs. Henry Fickbohm was organist. Pallbearers were Albert Anderson, Alve Evicson, Walfrid Forslund, Donald Harvey. John Frisk and Wayne McCrill. Interment was in Union Creek cemetery.
