Welch was born in Clarke County, Iowa September the 7th, 1887 and departed this life on April the 25th, 1926 at the Yokem hospital in Chariton, Iowa, age 38 years, 7 months and 17 days. She was united in marriage to Hal E. Arnold Sept. 9, 1904. To this union was born six children three boys and three girls as follows: Lowell Claire, Wayne Merl, Twyla Maud, Oma Lois, Mary Lorain and Lester Dean, two having preceded her in death, Wayne Merl and Mary Lorain. Mrs. Arnold has lived her entire life in this neighborhood, having spent several years on her father's farm and where the family at the present time reside. Although she had been in very poor health for several years her sudden sickness and death came as a shower from a cloudless sky to her many relatives and friends. She was converted at Bethel Chapel a number of years ago and was a member of the church at Bethel. In the passing of sister Arnold the husband sustains the loss of a loving companion, the companion a devoted mother and Mr. and Mrs. Welch a beloved daughter and the neighborhood and vicinity a kind neighbor and friend. Those left to mourn her going are her companion, Mr. Arnold and children, Lowell. Mrs. Twyla Anderson of Lucas County and Oma and Lester at home. One little grandson Merl Dean Andersen, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Welch of Chariton, Iowa, and many aunts, uncles cousins and dear friends. Gone from this world of sorrow, Gone from those she loved, In the morn of the resurrection When captives are set free And loved ones are reunited, What a meeting that will be. Funeral services were held at Bethel Chapel on Monday afternoon April 26, at 2 p. m. conducted by Rev. Hutchins of Lucas, Iowa, to which a large congregation was present to pay a last tribute of respect to the departed. To the bereaved family and the father and mother and all relatives this community extends their sincere sympathy in this sad hour.
