Peyton Died Last Saturday Well Known Dairyman Had Been Ill For Some Months Funeral Was Held On Tuesday Afternoon Mr. Orrie F. Peyton, one of the best known and most highly esteemed citizens of lower Somerset County, died last Saturday after an extended illness at the age of 72 years. He was born in Crisfield, the son of the late Sidney F. and Susan Peyton, and was a brother of the late William J. Peyton, who was a leading druggist in the community for many years. Mr. Peyton, in the earlier years of his life, was engaged in the seafood business and other activities, but for quite a number of years had centered his activities on dairying. His farm and dairy plant was a short distance from Crisfield, in Asbury district, from where he served many customers satisfactorily over a long period of time. In the last few years his son has been managing the business, because of the poor health of his father, and for the past several months, Mr. Peyton’s condition was such that he was almost entirely incapacitated. He enjoyed a wide acquaintanceship, and the respect and regard of neighbors, friends and acquaintances. A man of very pleasing personality, although somewhat retiring, Orrie Peyton made friends easily and held them long. His ill health was a matter of concern to his friends, and his death caused sincere sorrow. It can be said with truth of him that if men can love a man, most men who knew him loved him. Funeral services were held at his home Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, conducted by Rev. J. T. Rowlenson, pastor of Asbury Methodist Church. Interment was in the family lot in Asbury cemetery. Pallbearers were Alton Cullen, Paul Dorsey, Isaac Dorsey, Mack Lawson, Arthur Hinman and George Cullen. At his largely attended funeral services his casket was banked with many lovely floral pieces, remembrances from relatives and friends who held him in the highest esteem. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Eva B. Peyton, three children, Mrs. Nancy L. Davis and Mrs. Mary Susan Dize, of this city, and Mrs. Vera Matthews, of Baltimore, and one son, Mr. Sidney Peyton. The following sisters and brothers also survive: Mr. Louis Peyton, of Baltimore; Mr. Albert Peyton, of Adams, N.Y.; Mrs. Bessie MacLeod, of Baltimore; Mrs. Zenobia Fawcett, of Crisfield; and Mrs. Susan LaMar, of Jacksonville, Fla.
