Read More	Stratford Courier December 23, 1926 PETER ANGSTROM Peter Angstrom was born in Ovanåker, Gävleborg, Sweden, March 25, 1833. He belonged to the pious and faithful group who were the life and salt of the state church. In home and school he learned as a child to regard highly the Word and Sacraments and the Church. He was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was married in 1858 in Sweden and together with his wife he emigrated to America, settling for a short time in Illinois. A little later he moved to Stratford, Iowa, in 1871, where he located on a farm east of town. He lived on the farm until 1901 when he purchased a home in town and has since lived here till he passed to his reward December 17, 1926, having arrived at the old age of 93 years, 8 months, 22 days. His wife preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing, four sons: Olof Angstrom, Peter P. Angstrom, Jonas Angstrom and Nels Angstrom; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A host of friends are also left to mourn the passing of a true neighbor, good citizen and a faithful church member. The first years, both in the fatherland and in the new country, were spent in hard work amidst the greatest of privations and self-denials. Primitive means were then the only methods at hand with which farming could be done and deceased was one of the pioneers who perhaps owned a plow with which to till the soil while the remainder of the work was all at hand labor. And still the pioneer did not forget his God. We pay high tribute to such a fine Christian character and the efficient and concentrated service he rendered in his Minister's service. Never sparing himself in the care of the church he constantly drew upon that supploy of strength which was sufficient for every need and it did not fail him when old age laid him low. May the Lord raise up others to tatke the place of those who are called up higher. Funeral services were held in the Stratford Lutheran Church, Dec. 19, where Rev. Gunnar Goransson spoke a word of comfort to the mourning. Musical numbers were rendered by Mrs. John Anderson, Helen Anderson, Miss Hilma Lindquist, Alfred Erickson and Rev. Gunnar Goranssen. Many of Mr. Angstrom's friends were present at the funeral services. The remains were laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
