Description	:	Phillip T. Hodgin, M.D. of Orleans, IN, died Tuesday, December 26, 2000, at Bloomington Hospital of Orange County. Born on July 29, 1915, in Richmond, IN, he was the son of David O. and Helen (Kenworthy) Hodgin. He married Iris Hoar on June 1, 1940, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are one son, P.T. Hodgin, Jr., M.D. of Indianapolis; two daughters, Barbara Justice of Lake Wylie, SC, and Cathy Holloway of Raleigh, NC; one brother, Everett Hodgin of Richmond, IN; and seven grandchildren. Hodgin, M.D. of Orleans, IN, died Tuesday, December 26, 2000, at Bloomington Hospital of Orange County. Born on July 29, 1915, in Richmond, IN, he was the son of David O. and Helen (Kenworthy) Hodgin. He married Iris Hoar on June 1, 1940, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are one son, P.T. Hodgin, Jr., M.D. of Indianapolis; two daughters, Barbara Justice of Lake Wylie, SC, and Cathy Holloway of Raleigh, NC; one brother, Everett Hodgin of Richmond, IN; and seven grandchildren. He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1939 and received a masters degree in Public Health Administration at the University of Michigan in 1942. He served as district director in western Indian for the Indiana State Board of Health from 1942-1944, then served in the Army Occupational forces in Japan through 1946. In 1946 he opened his office in Orleans for practice of Family Medicine and retired in 1992, having practiced 46 years. He served as Orange County Health Officer from 1948-1991, was a charter and life member of the American Academy of Family Practice, life member of the American Medical Association, the Indiana State Medical Association, Indiana Public Health Association and Orange County Medical Society. He was a birthright Quaker. He was honored for his dedicated service to the citizens of Orleans in 1985, when he was selected as the Dogwood Festival Citizen of the Year. In addition to practicing medicine, one of his great pleasures was playing tennis. Services for Phillip Hodgin will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 29th, at the Chastain Funeral Home with the Rev. David Strange officiating. Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery.
