Sell--Russell--married on Thursday, July 13, 1882, by Rev. W. A. Miller, Mr. Richard C. Sell and Miss Molly E. Russell. His obituary in the Carroll Chronicle, Carrollton, Ohio, Friday, May 22, 1931. Richard Chapman Sell, 73, popularly known as "Doc Sells," died at his home in Petersburg on Thursday morning. Burial was made on Thursday at Palermo, after a service at the home at 10 and later at the church, funeral service being conducted by Rev. Earle Stainbrooke. Mr. Sells was born in Old Town Valley, Tuscarawas County, November 25, 1858. He is survived by the following children; Jason Sells of Perry Township, Mrs. Alta Newell of Sherrodsville, Olive Brooks of Union Township, Mrs. Laura Gartrell of Orange Township, Mrs. Blanche Davis at the home; also a brother, Joe Sells of Petersburg. Note --- the original obituary had him as Richard Capman Sells with a "S". I'm not sure if this family went by Sell or Sells. His obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, May 21, 1931. Richard Chapman "Doc" Sell, 73, died at one o'clock Tuesday morning May 19, at his home in Perry Township following an illness of one week. Death resulted from cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Sell was born November 25, 1858, at Old Town Valley, Tuscarawas County, the son of Benjamin and Alice Emery Sell. When about three years old he moved with his parents to Perry township, where he continued to reside. His wife who was formerly Mary Ellen Russell, preceded him in death in 1926. Mr. Sell is survived by one son, Jason Sell, of Perry Township; four daughters, Mrs. Alta Newell, of Sherrodsville, Mrs, Olive Brooks, of Union Township, Mrs. Flora Gartrell, of Orange Township and Mrs. Blanche Davis of the home, and one brother Joseph Sell of Union Township. Funeral services will be held this morning at 10:30 o'clock in the Methodist Church at Palermo with Rev. Earl Stainbrook in charge. Burial will be made in the Palermo Cemetery.
