He departed this life Friday, March 22, 1968, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva after a lingering illness at the age of 65 years, 9 months. May 25, 1924, he was united in marriage to Mildred M. Love... Read More	KIESTER, ROBERT M.—Robert M. Kiester, son of the late Melton and Clara (Cole) Kiester, was born in Geneva, Neb., June 23, 1902. He departed this life Friday, March 22, 1968, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva after a lingering illness at the age of 65 years, 9 months. At an early age he was baptized and became a member of the Methodist church. When he was small, he and his parents moved from Geneva to a farm near Fairmont, where Robert attended school. May 25, 1924, he was united in marriage to Mildred M. Love of Geneva, where they made their home. To this union was born one daughter, Ethel Carolynn. Mildred passed away in August, 1965. Robert was employed by the W. A. Biba construction Company for a period of more than 20 years and served as superintendent of construction projects during the latter years. In 1947 he and his brother-in-law, Leon Walker, formed the Kiester-Walker construction Company, of which he served as president until his death. January 1, 1967, he was united in marriage to Glenda Wilson of Geneva. He is survived by his wife, Glenda, a daughter, Ethel Urschel of Dallas, Tex., and a step-daughter, Kay Waterman of Republican City, Neb., two brothers, Sam of Norfolk and Floyd of Albion, two sisters, Phyllis Walker of Geneva and Margaret Smith of Central City, and five grandchildren, Kim, Scott and Robert Urschel, and Melanie and Tammy Waterman. Mr. Kester was a member of the Geneva Masonic lodge, the Geneva Eastern Star chapter and Sesostris Shrine of Lincoln, the Elks lodge at York, First Methodist church, the Rotary club, the Chamber of Commerce and the National Conservation Contractors Association. He was a member of the board of directors of that association. He was a past president of the Nebraska conservation Contractors Association. He served in 1966-67 as president of the Geneva Rotary club and had a record of several years of perfect attendance. He was a charter member of the club. He was also a past noble grand of the Geneva Odd Fellow lodge. Mr. Kiester was greatly interested in civic affairs and served on the Geneva city council 12 years. He served many years on the official board of the Geneva Methodist church and in various capacities, such as chairman of the board of trustees, and on building and other committees. The church’s present building program was of great importance to him. During the Centennial Celebration last summer Bob was one of the Geneva business men honored for having been in business here 45 years. Everyone who knew Bob respected and admired him for his vitality and integrity. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p. m. Monday, March 25, at the First Methodist church, Rev. K. Orlando Lee officiating. William Kinder sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “How Great Thou Art.” Mrs. Willard Foster was accompanist. Pallbearers were Wayne Beech, W. A. Biba, Homer Bumgarner, Ben D. Fussell, John Koehler and Joseph Turek. Honorary pallbearers were Kiester-Walker employees, Arlan Becker, Robert Deterding, Bruce Doll, Orville Dunkin, Donald Dunkin, Donald C. Haddan, Lonnie E. Jones William W. Kinder, Gerald Lattin, Leland Linder, Kenneth D. Miller, Ervin E. Ochsner, Daryel Schroeder, Franklin D. Slapnicka, Leo Starr. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery, with the Masonic lodge in charge of the burial service. The Nebraska Signal 25 March 1968 page 9.
