He had been ill for several years as the result of disabilities suffered in the war. Mr. Wickham was the son of the late O. P. Wickham, early day builder in Council Bluffs. He enlisted in Company L of the 3rd Iowa Infantry in June, 1915. He served on the Mexican border with the company in 1916. When the regiment was changed to the 168th infantry in 1917, Wickham went with the organization to France. After serving on the Alsace-Lorraine front, he was hospitalized for illness. Upon his recovery he did not return to his company but was assigned to a military police organization. He was discharged in the United States in 1919. He was a sergeant during his overseas service. Although rated as disabled after the war, he became a cigar salesman for the Harle-Haas Drug Company. His work was interrupted at times by his need for hospitalization. He had been in federal hospitals several times because of a heart complaint. Recently he had returned from Texas where he had spent more than a year. He was a member of Rainbow post No. 2, American Legion, and of the 40 and 8. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Clara Wickham; his mother, Mrs. O. P. Wickham; two brothers, George Wickham of Council Bluffs and Paul Wickham of Omaha; and four sisters, Cecelia, Ruth and Agness of Council Bluffs and Mrs. C. F. Dunkle, Los Angeles, Calif. The body was taken Friday from the Beem-Belford funeral home to his home, where it will lie in state until the funeral, at St. Francis church Saturday at 11 a. m., the Rev. J. P. Danahey officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery. Robert Wickham, 48, of Council Bluffs, la., prominent in state American Legion activities, died Thursday evening at his home following a heart attack. Mr. Wickham, a salesman, had been ill two years. He recently was a patient at the veterans' hospital here. The time of the funeral was tentatively set for Saturday morning. Mr. Wickham was a member of the 168th Infantry of the Rainbow Division. Surviving are his wife; his mother, Mrs. O. T. Wickham, Council Bluffs, Ia.; two brothers, Paul of Omaha, Neb., and George of Council Bluffs, and four sisters, Ruth, Agnes and Cecelia of Council Bluffs, and Mrs. Dunkle, Los Angeles, Cal.
