He was born Aug. 27, 1898, at Silver Lake, the son of Schuyler C. and Nellie E. Seymour Higbee. Mr. Higbee spent most of his life in the Topeka area. He was born Aug. 27, 1898, at Silver Lake, the son of Schuyler C. and Nellie E. Seymour Higbee. Mr. Higbee spent most of his life in the Topeka area. He was an automobile mechanic for Barnett Motors 26 years and formerly was employed by Topeka Generator, retiring in 1964. He was a former member of Eagles Lodge and American War Dads. He married Della Schoyer who died in November 1936. He married Ethel Fay Box, who died Aug. 11, 1977. A son, Gerald D. Higbee and a daughter, Viola M. Spencer, also preceded him in death. Survivors include a son, Roy C. Higbee Jr., 3818 N.W. Topeka Ave.; a daughter, Geraldine Owens, Anderson, Calif.; two stepsons, Eugene Box, 100 N. Western, and Harold E. Box, Gladstone, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Mary Hammond, of the home, and Hazel Sackrider, Lake Wabaunsee; two brothers, Warren Higbee, Tulsa, Okla.; three sisters, Grace Maddox, Kansas City, Mo., Helen Banta, Delia, and Amy Trimble, 437 Poplar; 23 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery. Mr. Higbee will lie in state after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
