Father Weaver dropped dead at his home Tuesday evening about five o'clock, with heart disease. He was feeling well as usual that day; been down to town in the forenoon and had just returned from a visit to Mr. Blue's; with the remark to his wife that he felt a little tired. He was about to change coats to do his chores and when reaching for his "womas" dropped to the floor and died in a few seconds. With the camphor bottle, the wife vainly tried to revive him, called for help and a doctor. But he was dead. He was 74 years of age. The funeral was held from the Lutheran church at 2 o'clock this Thursday afternoon, Rev. Ford of Seneca Officiating at the services.Obituary next weak. PAPER:(Valley Falls New Era)Vol. 13. Date: (February 16, 1911) Page 6. < obituary elder samuel weaver was born in monroe county, indiana dec. 28 1836, and died at his home in valley falls, kansas, february 14,1911, age 71 years, one month and 17 days. he was married to charlotte stuart; oct. 12, 1865. to this union were born four children, three daughters and one son, of whom two are living, mrs. sarah ellen deshazer of glencoe, okla., and mr. david f. weaver of this county. twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild, one sister and one brother, besides his dear wife, and companion, and other relatives and friends are left to mourn the loss of the departed. in 1859 he moved to taylor county, iowa, where he engaged in teaching school and farming untill 1863, when he enlisted in the war of the rebellion with company h. 15th, iowa, where he served until the close of the war. returning to iowa, he was married and lived there untill 1869, when he moved to jefferson county, kansas. here he lived until his death. the deceased joind the primitive babtist church, called hebron, on the 3rd sunday in may 1858. in 1874, he was ordaind an elder and died in the same faith. the funeral was held from the lutheran church,valley falls, thursday, february 16, elder joseph ford of seneca, kan., officiating, .the text being for, "since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead," cor.xv:21, after wich the g.a.r. took charge and the body was laid to rest in the farrar cemetery. those from a distance were: mr. and mrs. wm. workman, mrs. workman being the only living sister of the deceased, mr. and mrs j.g. thornhill of marysville, mo., mr. starling carmichaell of pickring, mo., mr. and mrs. a.j. deshazer of glencoe, okla., mrs. vena cobb of topeka, kan. card of thanks we desire to extend our hartfelt thanks to the friends and neighbors for their sympathy and kind acts in the death of our dear husband and father; also for the beautiful flowers. mrs.s. weaver mr. and mrs. d.f. weaver mr. and mrs. a.j. deshazer PAPER:( Farmers' Vindicator)Issue. 18.
