Description	:	Steven W. Long, 50, of rural White Cloud, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 10, 2012, where he and his wife were vacationing near the Virgin Islands. Steve was born at Hiawatha, October 4, 1961, one of three sons of Wayne and Geraldine Neher Long and was a lifelong White Cloud area resident, living on the same farm home he grew up in near White Cloud. Long, 50, of rural White Cloud, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 10, 2012, where he and his wife were vacationing near the Virgin Islands. Steve was born at Hiawatha, October 4, 1961, one of three sons of Wayne and Geraldine Neher Long and was a lifelong White Cloud area resident, living on the same farm home he grew up in near White Cloud. Steve attended the Hiawatha school system, graduating from Hiawatha High School with the class of 1979 prior to taking classes at Highland Junior College and Peru State University. Steve farmed a few years with his brother, drove a grain truck for White Cloud Grain a number of years; worked for the Brown County Co-op; Dawson, Nebraska Ag Center; and J Six Enterprises. The past five years, he traveled for Triangle Insurance Company, based out of Enid, OK, as loss control specialist. Steve was very active within his community and whatever he set his mind to do, it was done! He did a lot of volunteer work; obtained his pilots license and real estate license; had a great love for music, playing the soprano saxophone and the violin. He was a photography buff, taking pictures for weddings and various functions thru the years. He was a member of Good News Assembly of God Church in Falls City, Nebraska and served on the Deacon Board. Steve was a member of the Robinson Lions Club and so enjoyed taking an active role in the Melodrama each year. He was also a member of the Brown County Humane Society. Steve married Deana Appelseth, August 6, 1983, at Abilene. She survives of the home. Also surviving are his mother Geraldine Long of Falls City; a brother Sam (Arlene) Long of rural White Cloud; their children: Josh Long of rural Robinson, Anthony (Erin) Schneider their daughter Ione Clair, of Omaha, Nebraska; adopted brother Rick Williams of Ohio; and adopted sister Allison Melster of Hiawatha. He was preceded in death by his father Wayne Long; and an infant brother Daniel. A celebration of Steve's life is planned at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 21, at the Good News Assembly of God Church of Falls City, Nebraska, with Bob Nazarenus and Ian Shafer, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.
