Read More	Big Timber Pioneer, March 11, 1992 Theodore Lamach, 85, passed away at the Sweet Grass Community Hospital in Big Timber Thursday morning. He was born at Medina, North Dakota, December 22, 1906, to John W. Lamach and Mary Pravda Lamach. He attended Cavil School in Golden Valley County, Montana, and schools in Sweet Grass County. Later he attended the trade school at then Montana State College at Bozeman, taking diesel engine repair and operation, welding, and electrical wiring. He took his first job away from home when he was fourteen years old; it was driving four horses on a seed drill seeding winter wheat for a neighbor rancher. He worked at various ranch jobs for a few years. His first steady job was working for Sven Mauland (Sr.) and included all ranch work even packing supplies to a sheepherder high up the boulder River. In 1935 he put in a long summer running a trencher for a contractor putting in the new water supply for the city of Big Timber. He worked as a machine operator for McClaren Mining Company for two years at Cooke city. From there he went to Radersburg for the same company and worked in electrical and machine maintenance in the mine and in the mill. In 1941 he went to Mike Horse Mine near Lincoln for the same company as superintendent of maintenance in the mill. While at Mike Horse he was appointed as an undersheriff for Lewis and Clark county and served in this capacity as long as he was there. Theodore Lamach and Dorothy Meyer were married to Bozeman in August 1945. He and his wife moved to Mullan, Idaho in 1957 to work for American Smelting and Refining Company, (ASARCO) in the same capacity, that of superintendent of maintenance in the mill. In 1964 they moved to Colville, Washington for ASARCO in the same work. They moved back to the Wallace-Kellogg area to the Galena Mine in 1967, where he continued to work until his retirement. He retired December 31, 1971, and they bought a home in Hamilton where they lived and enjoyed their new friends and neighbors for many years. Theodore has resided in the Pioneer Nursing Home in Big Timber since March 1988. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 1983; by his parents; by four brothers; and by one sister. Survivors include six brothers, George of Big Timber, John of Billings, Joseph of Kennewick, Washington, Patrick of Sheridan, Wyoming, Michael of Patterson, California, Eli P. of Modesto, California; two sisters, Margaret Drivdahl of Big Timber, and Laurs Steele of Corvallis, MT; and 24 nieces and nephews. He belonged to the Twenty-five Year club of ASARCO and attended their meetings every year as long as he was able. He was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He traveled the westers states with his wife exploring mountains, canyons, and deserts. Friends and relatives say of him: he was well-liked wherever he went; he was very generous; he was patient, and he had a wonderful sense of humor. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. from the Lowry Funeral Home with Reverend Martin Seibert of the First Congregational Church officiating. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery.
