Moved to Bradford Township, this county, in 1833, where he lived until his death, which occurred August 31st, 1889. He was the father of eight children; five sons and three daughters. Read More	From the Semi-Weekly Age, Coshocton, Ohio, Sept. 3, 1889: Another Pioneer Gone Thomas Stephens was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, January 22, 1804. Moved to Bradford Township, this county, in 1833, where he lived until his death, which occurred August 31st, 1889. He was the father of eight children; five sons and three daughters. Two sons, James and Samuel died in the civil war. The others excepting Abram and Isabella, have all preceded him to the grave. His home was a regular preaching place for many years, and the home of the early Methodist ministers, a few of whom are Brown, Goft, Kellogg, Warsham, Powers, Whiteman, McCoabb, Chubb, Sheldon and others. He was a man of whom all spoke well. His son from Mt. Vernon, who is a fine looking and Christian gentleman, and family were present. His daughter, Mrs. English, who has lived by his side and has kindly administered to his wants in the loneliness of his home (as his companion departed this life some three years or more,) with her family, Mr. Waddel and family and a number of G A R men were present, as he is the father of the son after whom they named their Post, and he being one of the pioneers, these with many others followed his remains to the Union cemetery at Smith's church. The services were conducted at the house Sunday at 1 o'clock, by Rev. T H D Hanold. His age was 85 years, 7 months and 9 days.
