Description	:	Verna Anna Burgen was born September 26, 1900 at Weeping Water, Nebraska to Lillie Belle and William Aaron Harlan. She attended Weeping Water and Logan, Iowa schools. She was baptized Easter Sunday by immersion in 1920. On September 19, 1923 she married William Taylor Burgen at First Christian Church in Council Bluffs. Read More	Verna Anna Burgen was born September 26, 1900 at Weeping Water, Nebraska to Lillie Belle and William Aaron Harlan. She attended Weeping Water and Logan, Iowa schools. She was baptized Easter Sunday by immersion in 1920. On September 19, 1923 she married William Taylor Burgen at First Christian Church in Council Bluffs. She spent the major portion of her life in western Iowa and eastern Nebraska. During this time, 13 children were born to her. She worked as a seamstress and cook and served faithfully as a homemaker, wife and mother. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Missouri Valley, Iowa, serving there in various capacities and as past president of the Ladies Missionary Society. She recently attended the Church of Christ in Waterloo. Her husband passed away April 29, 1960 following many years of illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and one sister. She was also preceded by five infant children who each passed away in the first days of life. She is survived by eight children. She will long be remembered for her gift with plants, her sense of humor, her faith in God and her love of her family. Interment was at Rosehill Cemeterey in Missouri Valley, Iowa on April 13, Pastor Steve Stolle of the Church of Christ in Waterloo officiated at a graveside service.
